Well, now there are more injuries and some folks getting back from injuries and soon, starters may be getting rested, just as you need them for your playoffs. The nerve of the NFL! Such confusion! Well, if you need some ideas to tweak your roster, here you go.
QB:
Vince Young: People still don’t seem to believe in him. He’s still available in 85% of the ESPN leagues. But his career is rejuvenated and that last minute game-winning drive should convince some fantasy owners to nab him as a back up. He just might come in handy during your playoff run if your QB gets hurt or rested on the bench.
Alex Smith: Available in 81% of ESPN leagues, he’s thrown for 5 TDs over the last two games as well as over 450 yards. Plus in week 16, championship week, he faces Detroit.
Jason Campbell: Available in 80% of ESPN leagues. He’s not a gamebreaker, but he’s been averaging around 200 yards and one TD a week for the last 4 weeks. Not great but he’s no Jay Cutler, either; and that’s a good thing.
Josh Freeman: Over the last 4 weeks the kid has thrown 7 TDs. He also adds the ability to run for a few yards as well. He’s available in 97% of ESPN leagues. Plus, this week he plays Carolina and in three weeks he plays Seattle.
Matt Leinart: available in 98% of ESPN leagues. He played an unexpectedly good game, even if he didn’t’ pass for a TD. Depending on Warner’s health he may get the start this week against Minnesota. Despite Jared Allen’s sack rate, their secondary can be had and the Cardinals have the receiving threats to do it.
RB:
Jerious Norwood: Available in 75% of ESPN leagues. With Turner and Ryan out, Atlanta is likely to try and run, run, run against the blitz-happy Eagles. Norwood is healthy and can catch the ball out of the backfield with should enhance his value over backfield time-share mate, Jason Snelling.
Lex Hilliard: Available in 99% of ESPN leagues. He’s the only practical back-up to Ricky Williams. As we head into the latter part of the season, Williams needs to rest or gets hurt, his fantasy value skyrockets.
Justin Forsett: Available in 50% of ESPN leagues. Julius Jones is getting better and may start, but it should be hard for the coaches to ignore Forsett’s production while Jones has been hurt. The kid has been playing full time only three weeks and he has twice as many 100 yard games and twice as many rushing TDs as Jones.
WR
Jason Avant: Available in 98% of ESPN leagues. It looks like DeSean Jackson may miss some time with a concussion. Avant will either get the start or at least get some serious playing time and they play the Falcons this week with their leaky secondary.
Chris Chambers: Still available in 48% of ESPN leagues. Getting cut seems to have lit a fire under him. He’s actually playing like a decent receiver since he got picked up off the scrap heap by the Chiefs.
Robert Meachem: Available in 72% of ESPN leagues. He’s continued on his TD spree. With all the options that Brees has, that could change at any minute, but he’s got the hot hand, so ride it if you’re so inclined.
Kenny Britt: Available in 92% of ESPN leagues. The kid has been on a little bit of a tear since he took over for the injured Justin Gage. Plus, Vince Young’s new-found accuracy and confidence don’t hurt either.
