Brussels Antiques Fair Coming in January 2010
The 55thAnnual Brussels Antiques and Fine Arts Fair (BRAFA) will transform the capital of Europe into the capital of the arts when it hosts over 150 of the world’s top Belgian and foreign art dealers. BRAFA 2010 will be held on January 22-31, 2010 in the Tour & Taxi building from 11:00am to 7:00pm, with a special late night opening running until 10:30pm on Thursday, January 28, 2010.
The Tour & Taxi is located on Avenue du Port 86 C, B-1000 Brussels Located in the heart of Brussels, the building is a classic example of the Belgian industrial heritage dating from the 20thcentury.
A large number of foreign galleries will be exhibiting once again despite the challenging economic climate, demonstrating BRAFA’s reputation for displaying high quality and the latest trends in antiques and fine arts. This year, the fair will feature world treasures such as Roman statues, Greek torsos and busts of the Buddha alongside modern portraits, contemporary creations and jewelry. The continuing participation of highly respected art dealers also reflects the value of the attendees, the excellent organization and execution of the event, as well as its friendly atmosphere.
The eco-friendly BRAFA organizers recognize the role antiquarians play in the preservation of heritage and environmental conservation. Special attention has therefore been paid to the choice of materials used, 95% recyclable; the floor covering, 100% recycled; the use of organic paint and wood from sustainable production, and the full recycling of waste. This ‘green’ touch will also be seen in the overall decoration of the fair, designed with a plant theme by the Volume Architecture bureau.
Finally, testifying to the status the event has acquired and its high level of quality, the Fair is honoured by the presence of the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen.
