tibet-187-small Photo of the Day: Solar Tea Kettles in Tibet At this remote nunnery high in the Lhasa mountainside, nuns use a fuel-free method of heating their yak butter tea.

The butterfly-fold solar panel uses the region’s consistent, strong sunlight to heat the tea kettle.

It’s even common in the area’s nomadic regions to set up portable solar generators outside the tents.
